The Shoei RF1100 is a mid to high priced full face helmet that provides a lot of quality and advanced design features. It is the upgraded version of the RF1000 that was a very popular helmet from Shoei for a long time. The RF1100 has come about due to Shoei listening to their customers and giving them what they wanted to try and get the best quality helmet in this price range.
Every aspect of the RF1100 design has been meticulously thought out and put together. The result is a helmet the exudes comfort and style, and makes the rider experience as pleasurable as possible while wearing the helmet. The helmet comes in a number of different colors too, from the solid colors through to some graphic designs.
The Shoei RF1100 is actually a couple of ounces heavier than the RF1000, but this is because it has been designed to meet the SNELL M2010 safety rating, and the RF1000 did not have this. So you are looking at a safer helmet now in the RF1100. There are also five different sizes available in the RF1100, whereas there were only three sizes available before.

Key features of the Shoei RF1100
There are three main ventilation areas on the Shoei RF1100. The first is in the chin guard, and this has a two position opening ability, so you can control the air flow coming through there as you need. On the top of the helmet you have the chimney vents, which are fairly similar to the older design.
Then at the back of the helmet you have four exhaust points now which helps to pull the air through the helmet quicker, and get rid of the warm air that is created inside and replace it with cooler air.
Quiet and comfortable
You will also notice when riding with the Shoei RF1100 is that it is very quiet. They have improved the sealing of the helmet and reduced the amount of air that used to come in through certain points and make it fairly noisy at times. The shield features a spring loaded locking system, which helps to seal the gaps tighter around the shield, thus reducing noise.
The shape of the Shoei RF1100 Full Face Helmet is a medium oval, and there has been a few design upgrades to the inside of the helmet to improve comfort. The internal liner is fully removable and washable. There is also a breath diffuser built into the chin guard inside the helmet.
The updated shield design on the RF1100 now uses a spring loaded system to get a better seal on the helmet, so help produce that weather proofing that you need. There is a gasket that runs around the rim of the face opening, and the spring loaded system pulls the shield in tight with the gasket, giving it that tight seal and keep the water out when it is raining.
There is also a three position locking ability for the shield also. The first lock is for racing conditions, and will hold the shield in tight. Then there is open, which will allow you to open and close the shield when you need. Then there is the third position which is the cracked position. This just opens up a small gap at the bottom of the shield to allow a bit of air in for defogging purposes.
